The Speaker Proposal Process

 

For ALD's 30th Anniversary Conference, topics and speakers are chosen by the Conference Committee based upon the speaker's known abilities on topics of high interest to the dental laser community.  The committee will consider all submissions as well as those invited to participate.  Invited speakers will use the speaker proposal form to submit their topic and speaker information. All submissions are reviewed by ALD’s conference committee for relevance, speaker experience and ADA CERP compliance.  Selected and invited speakers are required to sign agreements noting date/time and responsibilities.  Speaker proposals are being sought through September 15, 2022.  The program schedule will be published by Oct 1, 2022 and registration will open at that time. 

 

The Academy of Laser Dentistry is fully accredited by ADA CERP.  All of the guidelines governing continuing dental education activities will be followed. Refer to the Abstract Submission Guidelines for further guidance. Below are quick tips on the submission process.  

  • Titles should be descriptive - The title should be engaging and to the point. Your title will be used to publicly promote the course.
  • Ability level – All courses are indicated for novice or advanced applications.
  • Educational objectives – Abstracts should have 3-4 behavioral objectives. Objectives should be 500 characters or less.
  • Abstract description – The description should be a summary of the course’s purpose. It should clearly expand upon and support the educational objectives. The description should be 2,000 characters or less.
  • Grammar and spelling – Please note that both grammar and spelling are very important. The submissions are not edited prior to grading.
  • After review, selected abstracts are edited prior to being posted online or run in any promotional materials.
  • Submitter and/or presenter information – Full contact information and a biography (not a C.V.) is required. The biography is part of the grading process. The ADA CERP guidelines mandate that a presenter be fully qualified to present educational materials.
  • Full compliance with the ADA CERP guidelines for continuing dental education activities will be followed. Please note this includes commercialism, bias, and image authenticity.

ALD is not responsible for the opinions expressed by the presenters, exhibitors, and advertisers.  Written permission must be obtained by the Academy to audiotape, videotape, duplicate, and/or distribute any portion of the conference program or proceedings.  The ALD Conference presents opportunities that may discuss investigational devices that have not yet received U.S. FDA approval or clearance for the specified clinical indications or describes off-label uses. Practitioners are advised to investigate and consider which medical devices and materials are cleared by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for safety and efficacy and which are considered experimental, and which procedures are within the applicable scope of their license, competence, skills, and abilities, as established by their education, training, and experience. Clinicians are advised to review the specific indications for use of their devices and to review their operator manuals for guidance on operating parameters before attempting similar techniques on their patients.
